The Fineness Modulus should be between 2.3 and 3.1. FM is an index of the fineness of an aggregate-the higher the FM the coarser the aggregate. Different aggregate grading may have the same FM. FM of fine aggregate is useful in estimating proportions of fine and coarse aggregates in concrete mixtures.
